Animal Friends Meditation Transcript

 

Hello.  My name is Carrie and we are going to meditate together.  And all you have to do is just close your eyes, relax and listen to my voice. 

 

I am going to introduce you to some animal friends who may help you in your life.  As I introduce them to you, you may breathe in deeply and pull all of their power into you, letting it fill you and make you strong.  Of course, you already have all these strengths and powers yourself, but these animal friends will help you remember this.  They will remind you of all the wonderful things you are.  And if you ever forget how wonderful and powerful you are, you can just take a deep breath and know that they are with you.  

 

First let us call in the spirit of the lion.  Breathe in deeply now and let your body fill with his energy.  Feel how full of courage he is.  Feel how strong he is.  Let his courage fill you and make you feel strong and brave as well.   Fill yourself up with lion energy and know that you are this strong.  Know that he will always come and fill you up, whenever you need help.  When you are afraid of something you must do, when you must face something or someone that frightens you, just take a deep breath, think of the lion and he will be there within you, helping you to face whatever you need to face in your life, making you just as strong and brave as he is.

 

And now, for a moment, just feel the brave, strong lion spirit within you.

 

 

And now, breathe deeply and bring in the spirit of the bird.  The bird knows what it is to be happy and full of joy.  She sings all day long, telling the world how much she enjoys life.  And if she is ever confused or worried for a moment, she just flies up into the sky and looks down from a very great height.  From up in the sky, she can see how small her little troubles are and can feel how free she is.   Whenever you feel unhappy, breathe in her spirit and let her fill you with joy.  If you feel trapped with too many people telling you what to do, breathe in her spirit and let her fill you with freedom.  If you feel worried, fly with her up and up, higher and higher, until the treetops are like little dots below you.  Then look down and see just how small your troubles are now. 

 

And now, for a moment, just feel the free and happy spirit of the bird as she flies.

 

 

And now we will invite the black panther to join you.  Breathe in deeply and feel her calm and patient spirit filling you.  The panther climbs up into a comfortable tree in the jungle and she just waits and watches.  She is so calm and so patient that she can rest there for hours and hours, just quietly watching and waiting.  When you feel that you just can’t wait a minute longer, breathe in deeply and let the panther fill you with her peace, her calm and her patience.  Know that you can watch and wait as long as you need to, with a peaceful, calm feeling deep inside.

 

And now, for a moment, just feel the peace and patience of the black panther, resting in a tree.

 

And now, take a deep breath and as you do so, let the spirit of the buffalo fill you.  The buffalo can live out on the plains even during the storm, even during the deepest snow.  He knows how to just put his nose down and keep warm inside his fur.  The rain may fall, the snow may pile up all around him, the wind may howl, but he is all right.  He knows that no storm lasts forever and that spring will always come again.  And so, when you are feeling bad, when you are in trouble or thinking that your life will never be fun again, just breathe in deeply and call the buffalo spirit within you, to remind you that you can survive anything if you just remember that it will not last forever, and that a glorious spring day is always right around the corner.

 

And now, for a moment, just let the buffalo spirit fill you with the promise of springs to come.

 

And now, breathe in the power of the elephant.  The elephant never forgets.  She is strong and can lift anything, can handle anything.  She is wonderful at going to school and taking tests, because she remembers everything.  She is wonderful at doing all kinds of school work, because nothing is too much for her.  Breathe her into you when you need to study, when you need to take a test or anytime when life seems too much, when you feel you have too much to do and life is just too hard.  With the elephant inside you, nothing is too much for you to handle.

 

And now, for a moment, let the elephant’s memory fill your mind and her strength and power fill your body.

 

 

And now, take a deep breath and let the energy of the bear enter you.  The bear spends his entire winter in a cave, sound asleep.  The bear is very good to have inside you when you are having trouble sleeping.  Breathe him in for a moment and feel what it is like to be a bear and to sleep for months on end.  Feel what it is like to be this relaxed and this comfortable in the arms of sleep.  When you are having trouble getting to sleep, just pull in his energy and let it wrap around you like a warm bear hug.  Breathe in your bear energy and let it remind you that if you will just go to sleep, everything will look much better and brighter in the morning.

 

And now, for a moment, let the sleepy, warm bear energy fill you.

 

 

And now, take another deep breath, and this time pull in the energy of the tortoise.  The tortoise has a hard shell which protects her.  She does not move quickly, but she does move steadily forward.  Let the tortoise help you when you are feeling sensitive.  When you feel that people are picking on you, when someone has hurt your feelings, then breathe in your tortoise energy and let their words just bounce off your shell.  Let her energy protect you when you need protecting.  And know that even though you sometimes appear to be moving slowly, you are still moving in a strong and steady way, a way that is right for you.

 

And now, for a moment, feel the tortoise energy surrounding and protecting you.

 

 

And now, see yourself standing in the center of a circle with all of these wonderful animals around you:  the lion, the bird, the panther, the buffalo, the elephant, the bear and the tortoise. 

 

They have a few words to say to you, something they want you to know.

And this is what they say to you.

 

We love you.  We are here for you.  You are never alone. 

 

We know that you make mistakes.  It is all right.  We love you anyway. 

 

We love you and care about you.  We want only the best for you.  And we will help you.  All you need to do is call to any one of us and take a deep breath, breathe in our energy and it will fill you.

 

At any time you need to, you may breathe in the courage of the lion, the joy and freedom of the bird, the calm and patience of the panther, the ability of the buffalo to make it through the storm, the memory and strength of the elephant, the sleepiness of the bear, and the hard, protective shell of the tortoise.

 

 

And now, see that you have a light glowing in your center.  It is you, who you are.  It is a bright light and it is shining out.  It is full of all of the wonderful things that these animals have brought you, for they are all a part of you and you have all of the strength and power that they have.  You are everything you need to be, right now, exactly as you are.   And now, give yourself the gift of knowing this.  Send yourself all the love in the world.  Let it fill you up.  More and more love, just for you.  You deserve all of it.

 

And as you go through your day today, know that the entire universe is delighted that you are here, living your life just as you live it and being just who you are.  Call in your animal friends if you think you need their help.  They will be happy to be with you and help you. 

 

And also, let your own light shine out.  Shine out with yourself, being who you are, showing us who you really are.  Shine out in love.  Shine out in joy and peace.  Shine out and show us the wonder that you are.

 

And now, it is time to return.  So just wiggle your toes around and then your fingers.  Take one last deep breath and stretch your arms up over your head.  And then when you are ready, you may open your eyes.

 

And today, remember that you are not alone.
